The President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid visited Finland on Thursday 20 October, by invitation of President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö. This was first overseas visit made by President Kaljulaid during her term in office and is the first meeting between the presidents.
Finnish and Lithuanian relations, security situation in the Baltic Sea area, Russia, and the Syrian crisis were discussed when President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö and President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė met on 18 October 2016. "Finland is still very active in increasing the stability in the Baltic Sea area in every possible way. That is very important for all of us”, said President Niinistö.
