President of Russia Vladimir Putin arrived in Finland for a working visit on Friday, 1 July 2016. At a joint press conference with President Putin, President Niinistö underlined the importance of cutting the spiral of mistrust in both the Baltic Sea region and Ukraine.
President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö closed the Kultaranta talks by commenting on the main topics of the day: cooperation between Finland and Sweden, and the future of the EU. “It seems that there are differences between Finland and Sweden, but it is very hard to pinpoint what those differences are,” the President summarised. “The views expressed both in Finland and Sweden take situational factors into account, while providing enough room for future solutions.”
